Apples may boost immunity. First, their Vitamin C content is useful for immunity. Second, their pectin fiber is degraded by “good” micro-organisms in the large intestine, liberating short-chain fatty acids such a butyric acid. These aid immunity by stimulating production in the spleen of helper T cells, antibodies, white blood cells, and cytokines. They also inhibit C- reactive protein, a blood marker of inflammation.
Basically – eat an apple a day to help boost your immune system. I like to ad mine to a juicing recipe with cucumbers and a little bit of ginger.
